Escalating Extortion on Farmers and Riders

For years, we have endured exploitation disguised as “fees.” Initially, bike riders and farmers were forced to pay 500 CFA francs to pass, a heavy but manageable burden. Recently, this demand has doubled to 1,000 francs, with no explanation. On top of this, outrageous charges are now imposed on our produce: 5,000 francs per bag of wet cocoa, 2,000 for palm nuts, 1,000 for cassava, and 500 for a single bunch of plantain. This daily extortion strips us of our livelihood and pushes families deeper into poverty.

Brutality for Non-Compliance

Daily extortion and arbitrary, Anyone unable to pay faces severe punishment. Bikes are seized, and retrieval requires a fine between 25,000 and 50,000 francs. Both young and elderly villagers are subjected to torture and humiliation. When we question these abuses, soldiers mock us, saying, “If you don’t like it, go to Yaoundé and tell President Biya.” Their words make clear that the daily extortion is not accidental but a deliberate tool of control and humiliation.

Violations of International Laws and Human Rights

Daily extortion and arbitrary, actions of the Cameroon Occupation Forces constitute grave violations of International Laws and conventions. Daily extortion, arbitrary detention, torture, and economic exploitation of civilians during armed conflict are all recognized as war crimes under the Geneva Conventions. By targeting farmers, riders, and families who depend on agriculture, they are systematically destroying our economic survival and human dignity.

Why These Abuses Are War Crimes

International Laws classify war crimes as deliberate acts against civilians, including daily extortion, torture, and collective punishment. What is happening in Malenda is not random it is organized oppression. By imposing illegal taxes, confiscating property, and torturing civilians, the Cameroon Occupation Forces are violating not only our human rights but also global humanitarian norms meant to protect vulnerable populations.

A Cry for Help from Ambazonia

Daily extortion and arbitrary, We, the people of Malenda and Ambazonians, appeal to the world and to all competent authorities for urgent intervention. Our voices have been silenced locally, but we refuse to give up. Sharing this testimony is our only weapon of resistance. The suffering in Ambazonia is real, and without international pressure, these crimes, especially the daily extortion that destroys our livelihoods, will continue unchecked.
