Violation of International Humanitarian Law

Brutal Killing of a pregnant woman. The shooting of a civilian vehicle constitutes a direct violation of International Laws governing armed conflicts. Under the Geneva Conventions, targeting civilians who are not participating in hostilities is strictly prohibited. Cameroon Occupation Forces breached these conventions by firing indiscriminately into a taxi without establishing an imminent threat. Such acts amount to war crimes because they disregard the principle of distinction, which requires armed forces to differentiate between civilians and combatants.

Crimes Against Humanity

The Brutal Killing of a pregnant woman and her unborn children goes beyond a battlefield mistake; it is an act of deliberate violence against human dignity. Under International Laws, the right to life and the protection of unborn children are recognized as fundamental rights. By targeting Sheila Nemu Garbi, the Cameroon Occupation Forces not only extinguished three innocent lives but also inflicted psychological terror on the Ambazonian population. This constitutes a systematic attack against civilians, which falls under crimes against humanity.

Violation of Human Rights

Human rights law clearly prohibits arbitrary deprivation of life. Cameroon Occupation Forces violated Sheila’s right to life, security, and dignity. The unborn twins also had a right to protection under humanitarian norms. Moreover, the terror inflicted on communities when civilians are killed in broad daylight sends a chilling message of repression. Such violations erode the very foundations of human rights recognized by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

Call for Accountability

The Brutal Killing of a pregnant woman by the name Sheila Nemu Garbi and her unborn children should not be normalized or ignored. Accountability mechanisms under International Laws must be activated to investigate and prosecute this war crime. The Ambazonian people deserve justice, and the Cameroon Occupation Forces must face consequences for violating humanitarian principles and committing gross human rights abuses.
