Parallel Justice and Arbitrary Detentions

The Cameroon militia has created a parallel justice system. This shadow authority arbitrarily detains individuals, imposes heavy fines, and subjects detainees to torture. Such actions directly contravene International Laws that guarantee the right to a fair trial and prohibit cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment. The establishment of an unlawful court by the Cameroon Occupation Forces strips Ambazonian citizens of their legal protections, deepening fear and lawlessness.

Extortion, Kidnapping, and Violence

The Cameroon militia activities reportedly include kidnapping for ransom, extortion of villagers, and violent assaults. These practices are clear violations of International Humanitarian Law, which forbids targeting civilians during conflicts. Extortion and kidnappings also breach human rights principles that protect individuals from arbitrary interference and economic exploitation. The targeting of ordinary villagers underscores the systematic oppression faced in Ambazonia under Cameroon’s military occupation.

Attacks on Local Officials and Institutions

Even community leaders and educators have not been spared. The principal of a technical college was allegedly detained and fined by the militia, signaling a deliberate effort to intimidate institutions that should remain neutral. By undermining officials, the Cameroon Occupation Forces erode trust in governance and education, further destabilizing the Ambazonian community. Such acts constitute war crimes under International law, as they deliberately suppress civilian leadership.

Brutality and Human Rights Violations

Perhaps most shocking are images showing a young man whose hands were nearly severed by the militia. This level of cruelty highlights the extreme violations of human dignity taking place. Under International Laws, such mutilations are explicitly classified as war crimes. By deliberately inflicting such harm, the Cameroon Occupation Forces are not only violating the physical integrity of individuals but also terrorizing the wider population of Ambazonia.
